We will also have tickets on the door. Doors open 7pm and the live poetry kicks off at 07:30.
We are also really looking forward to the open mic where poets, storytellers and writers of all kinds are encouraged to share their work. All genders are welcome to read, sign up on the night, 10 slots available and 5 minute limit. The audience is very supportive and we welcome new readers. Come along and join this warm, vibrant poetry community and don’t forget about Open Studio’s yummy crepes!
Gabrielle has a PhD in Creative Writing. The second edition of her book Dona Juanita and the love of boys was published with Buon-Cattivi Press. John Kinsella included Dona Juanita and the love of boys as one of the best poetry books for 2020 in Australian Book Review. She has been published in numerous anthologies including The Penguin Anthology of Australian Poetry and more recently, Admissions. She has performed her poetry at La Mama, The Bowery in New York and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She has also performed her work at The Evil Woman conference in Vienna.
Margarita Vlacci (she/they) is a trans poet and performer, currently dedicated to using whatever available mediums to express ideas on everything from gender to grief to getting stuck waiting on delayed train services. Growing up on unceded Wurundjeri land as a Sinti Romani person, Margarita is a new and upcoming member of the Melbourne poetry scene. Currently, she is working on a poetry collection inspired by the major arcana tarot deck.
Outside of poetry and poetry-related performances, which most frequently appear at Radio Laria events, you can find Margarita performing in drag, updates on which can be found on instagram @sheila.e.lugosi
