PERCULATIONS – POETRY AND SPOKEN WORD AT KAFÉ ON HEMMINGS Saturday 14th January

We are starting gently with an Open Mic, but will feature, well… features in the future. This gig will also recognise young poets (the Little Aesthetics program for anyone 12 and under) as well as people who read the works of other poets (the Rhetorical Recreation Society).

The venue for Perculations is the wonderfully generous Kafé on Hemmings, at 86 Hemmings St, in Dandenong – about a 15-minute walk from either Dandenong or Yarraman train stations. There is also handy, free parking available behind the medical centre on the opposite corner.

This event is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded and we extend our respects to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.

The first Perculations session will be an ‘Open-Mic’ event, with the aim to invite and organise features in the future. At that point, the event will be ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Eventbrite, as the Kafé will continue serving the general public.

Perculations is affiliated with Radio Laria and is committed to highlighting the voices of women and gender-diverse poets.  50% or more of all features throughout the year will be women, however, men are also encouraged to apply to this event and the open mic is open to anyone.

If you would like to feature at Perculations, or have any questions you can email me via this website, join the group on Facebook, or email thesandandthefrog@gmail.com.

There is also a form you can fill out to ask to feature at Perculations. You can find the form here by clicking on this link.

I hope to see you there soon!
