Radio Laria Poetry with Yvette Stubbs and Lisa McLean, Wednesday 3rd July

Radio Laria is back July 3rd to bring you a night of shadow, light and multi-coloured expression with Lisa McLean and Yvette Stubbs. Lisa is a philosophical poet who confronts both the dark depths and liberating opportunities of the human experience. We are excited to help her launch her new book “Daughter of Decay.” Yvette Stubbs is an unpredictable, poet and visual artist who energises audiences with her vivid, varied poetry. We are also looking forward to the open mic where poets, story-tellers and writers of all kinds are invited to express themselves. Tickets are $10 or $5 and are available from:

https://www.stickytickets.com.au/8NP9F

We will also have tickets on the door, but please note we only accept cash.
Doors open 7pm and the live poetry kicks off at 7:30.
Our venue Open Studio (204 High St, 3070) is a Northcote institution for culturally amazing gigs.
For the open mic it’s sign up on the night, and a 5-minute limit (arriving early is recommended for sign up). The audience is very supportive and we welcome new readers. Men are welcome to share on the open mic, but please be mindful that this is a night to promote women’s poetry and we ask that you behave respectfully. Come along and join this warm, vibrant poetry community and don’t forget about Open Studio’s yummy crepes!

Location: Open Studio (204 High St, Northcote) is on the 86 tram route, or if you want to get the train it’s a ten minute walk from Northcote Station (Mernda line) or fifteen minute walk from Westgarth Station (Hurstbridge Line).
Accessibility: Front door is wheelchair accessible, but it is a little narrow. Wheelchair accessible to performance space. Toilets are up some stairs and very narrow.

She is a published author and has an unpredictable, creative edge to her poetry and performance. She will be sharing much of her new work with us on Wednesday and a few juicy pieces from old.

Lisa McLean

Lisa McLean is a poet whose work fearlessly explores the darkest corners of the human psyche. Her recent publication, “Daughter of Decay: Poetry from the Underworld”, is the culmination of over two decades of introspective writing, offering readers an uncompromising look into the complexities of the human experience.

McLean’s poetry addresses themes ranging from suicidal ideation to spiritual transcendence and often includes a piercing critique of societal conditioning. While some may find her work unsettling, others will find solace in her unflinching examination of what it means to be human.
